Shortening wakes

Hello all, I have a 1432 jonboat with a Duromax 23hp v twin longtail on it, I am currently getting roughly 23-24 mph out of it but I am out running my wake. Other than having a narrow boat, which I do, what affects the wake? the boat does sit pretty low with such a heavy engine so that may be causing the boat to act like a wider one. Any ideas?
