Need To Work On Mud Motor For My Glen-L DBT

Post by C David »

Just thought others might be interested in the Glen-L DBT I built in 2010. Took me a week indoors, then there was a day of fibreglassing I did in the spring outdoors and painting and finally of camo a year later...

...it's a very stable design, lets me haul my dog over the side with no risk of capsizing, is shallow draft, rows like a feather. I have used a 2.7 hp canoe motor on it and a trolling motor. Both work well but I think I need a mini kit on here to see its best performance.

I built the same boat, I run a small kit 6.5 predator with a stage one kit and it works great.

I think boat building threads are my favorite.
Especially wooden boats.

If you need a light weight motor to push the boat a short distance, without planing, then the Mini Kit will do that.
If you want the boat to plane, then the Small kit with a 6.5, as northernhunter suggested, would be your best bet.

NH

Got a pic/video of your boat? Hope you're as happy with yours as I am with mine!

Nothing like a wooden boat! Thanks for the info on the 2 different sized kits.
