What do you guys do with the bucktails and feather from you hunts and whatnot? I'm interested in buying some for tying ties and lures.

Specifically what duck feathers do you want/need. And if I get a deer this year ill send you the tail if I remember. All for free as far as I'm concerned.

Same here. I can send you all the duck feathers and deer tails you want. My state is a little funny on the sale of deer parts, so they will be free.

I wondered if there were regs. on that. Free is good. That way we all stay in good standing with the law. I guess some states might view that as poaching.

Some of the states have restrictions on Whitetail Deer parts in particular, due to concerns over the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease. A tail with the bone in might have enough nervous system tissue to be a concern in those states.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Willie but you don't need actual tails, just deer hair to tie flies and bucktail jigs right? All deer hair floats

I saw regular and dyed deer tails at Bass Pro the other day. Do you dye yours Willie? I also have an assortment of poultry and turkey feather if you use them.

I'm tying streamers: baitfish imitations. Tail is best. Has to do with the correct length and thickness of hair. They split the tail in half and salt it or tan it. Here's what it looks like: http://www.barlowstackle.com/-Bucktails--P94C42.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;sunshine wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, Willie but you don't need actual tails, just deer hair to tie flies and bucktail jigs right?
