Here's the first decoy I've made

About half way there. Needs the head blended to the body, a trestle coat, and paint. Not bad for a first go, but I already know where a few changes need to be made on the next one.

From the looks if it, you're off to an excellent start. I look forward to seeing it painted and what species you choose.

If this one on Ebay sells for $989, you might want to consider quiting your dayjob :D

Nations largest decoy show is coming up in April about 30 miles from me. Last year a decoy sold at the auction for $85,000. I'm going this year to look around.

Is that just pink foam board? Looks good.

Yup, pink foam stacked. I want to eventually make some out of cork, but foam is cheap while I have my training wheels on

Here is the second one, looks a lot better. They will both be painted as Canvasbacks.

I am almost done carving a bufflehead, if I decide I like the head.

Your colors are dead on. Amazing job for your first decoy. You've definitely got the knack, and I hope you do more.

I've got a bufflehead I'm painting now, and another bufflehead blank ready to carve. I've also got all the parts I need to build a hot wire foam cutter. Safe to say there will be more. 8-)
