In the off season we like to train versatile gun dogs, and catch up on the honey do list so we can shoot birds all Fall.
Beautiful dogs! What breed are they?

The brown dog on the left is a Pudelpointer from Bob Farris (Cedarwoods Kennels) and the brown and white guy is my German Shorthaired pointer. The white in him is an American addition (stemming from English Pointer cross breeding many generations ago), The Germans wouldn't allow it, but we have much larger properties to hunt here in the West, so have adapted the dog to our needs.

We train to a 'versatile' standard, meaning both dogs with do upland, and water work. In North America we have a club called NAVHDA, which focus on the versatile breeds, and it works out great as a training standard for those of us who hunt a variety of cover and methods.

The guy that owns the PP and I are both building variations of hybrids to hunt out of and have bought the small Swamp runner kits to tootle around with. Should be a sweet season ahead of us.

I thought it was a GSP, but it looked larger and kind of Labbish. Enjoy your swamp runners!

Looks on the bright side Backwoods. The outboards can't run through it without overheating, so we've got the place to ourselves for the rest of the summer ;)
Psalm 55:7 - Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness.
