Here's a traditional recipe for making grits, Florida cracker style.
Its quick and easy to make at the hunting camp, will warm you up, and stick with you.
4 strips bacon
1 cup ham or sausage
1 onion chopped
1 bell pepper chopped
1 clove garlic
1 small can diced tomatoes
Cook grits per directions. Fry bacon, remove from pan, and drain off all but about 2 tablespoons of grease.
Saute onion, pepper, garlic in the grease until the onions are translucent.
Add crumbled bacon, ham or sausage, and tomatoes. Cook for a few minutes.
Stir in the cooked grits and serve.
P.S. - if your gonna use garnish, make sure it's edible. No parsley here.
