Canyon lake saturday, over a week since we got floods. They have full flood gates open and are releasing nearly 5000 CFS out of the dam, over 10 times what it has been at for the last 5-10 years.

I also traded my truck the day before the floods in San Marcos, so I was F'ed when I had to bug out because it didn't come with a trailer hitch. Luckily, I've still got one or two good friends willing to save my boat at 3 AM.

The boat ramp was closed.

...but I didn't launch from the boat ramp, I launched from the street LEADING to the boat ramp.

I also found these in the river while trying to get a dumpster removed. The problem is that I don't like golf.

Oh yeah, and I was in Houston Tues-Thurs last week. Got to check out a membrane filtration plant that turns murky brown water into crystal clear drinking water. I figured some of you mechanical nerds would like to see pics, I've just been too tired to upload the pics.

200 HP electric water pumps...each is the size of a small car.

Image

Membrane filter with the top cap off.

Image

One of 5 racks with something like 74 filtration units on each rack
Image

Electrolysis plate for creating industrial scale quantities of chlorine dioxide, one of the strongest disinfectants and used in early stages of surface water treatment to kill off bacteria and many organisms in the water.
Image

I think these were 60 or so HP service pumps.
Image

I LOLed when I saw this one. Anything wrong with this eye wash station in the room full of bulk caustic and acidic solutions?
Image

Irony is that at the time, Houston was having positive bacteriological tests in distribution and over half of the "public water supply investigators" got sick.

I like that last pic with the lower shutter speed.
I've tried to create that effect several times, but it never seems to work out.

My buddy wanted to break in his new jeep so I came along as the trail guide, navigator and tow vehicle. Being slightly taller and 4x4 came in handy.
