My Rig

Post by jmscherrman »

I finally got the boat out on the water and thought I'd share some photos from two duck hunts this weekend. The mini kit and 79cc motor performed pretty well and according to the GPS app on my phone I managed to squeak out 6mph, not bad...but I already want more power. :D

I think you could go with a 212cc swamp runner on that boat . I run the 212 on a 8 foot Lowes river boat with no problems , can't sit on the bench seat in the back cause too much weight on the back . I sit on a cooler instead and get 19 MPH . Something too think above

I could. Its rated for a five hp outboard.

I think I'm going to add some mods to the 79cc motor and see where that gets me but I'll probably end up with the small swamp runner and the 212cc Predator.

Post up some pics of your boat!

Ordered up a high-flow air filter, #80 jet for the carb, exhaust pipe. Hoping to get some more power out of this 79cc. I plan to back out the governor screw to allow more rpm (I'm not comfortable removing the whole governor assembly since there is no aftermarket flywheel available for these).

carefull with the governor screw those small preditors will realy twist up. we were turning ours up aiming at 4500, wild bill hit it with his electronic tach and oops we were turnin over 5500, deceptive little critters.Be safe get a tach/hour meter so you don't over-rev the cast
iron flywheel,if you turn them to fast they can come unglued. That being said they are great little motors and can be tweaked easy.

when you are tuning on your motor or breaking in a new motor its a good idea to take the drive shaft off the coupler. that way you don't have to worry about overheating the flange bushing or having a unintended prop-strike.

No problem Junior, I've got a tach/hour-meter so I'll be able to keep an eye on the rpms and I am aiming to keep them at 4500 or less.

Looks like I'm going a different direction this year. Had a guy want to buy my mini kit so I sold that off to him to power his Beavertail Final Attack. The 79cc motor was awesome but it just wasn't enough for the size of this boat when fully loaded down with hunting gear.

This year's setup will be a 212cc Predator paired with a Small kit, more than likely going with the NR Racing Stage 1 kit straight out of the box. :D

Pics soon, after I organize the garage and finish my drywall project.

dang... i'm wondering how he'll like that mini on his final attack. I run my 7hp on mine and I wish it was hopped up!
